Prison Visitation

The Prison Visitation Program was specially designed to allow contact visits between a child and the parent who is incarcerated.  It is necessary that the prison establish a private and safe environment within the prison.  This space will be utilized for the Prison Visitation Coordinator to provide parent mentoring and monitor supervised visitation.  The Prison Visitation Coordinator will serve as a role model and mentor, assist in improving parenting skills and provide weekly parenting classes to improve the parent-child relationship.

If age appropriate, individual counseling is provided to the child to address any issues which may arise from the visits.  Discussion with the non-incarcerated guardian will occur regarding youth's behaviors and experiences pre and post prison visit.  Transportation services may be available.  For youth reunifying with a parent post incarceration, Preventative Aftercare Intensive Services may be implemented.
