Key to the comprehensive philosophy of engaging the entire person, our fine arts program offers a unique environment for youth to experience art as an effective and appropriate outlet for self-awareness and expression. Youth will have many opportunities through this program to develop skills and abilities that will help encourage a positive self-image.
Our fine arts program provides youth the opportunity to participate in the following classes:
The book club will provide youth a safe environment to read and discuss the contents of the book in an open discussion. By having an open discussion, this will allow the youth to express themselves in a positive manner based on their own understanding and experiences.
In partnership with Grove City College, youth have the opportunity to work at the college’s ceramics studio to design and paint ceramic
bowls that are then sold and filled with homemade soup at the annual Empty Bowls event. All funds raised from the event goes to support
the Grove City Community Food Pantry.
Pointing the Way is a unique project that engages the community, local school districts, youth and teachers at GJR’s career and technical center. Through these partnerships, multiple sculptures have been designed and installed throughout Pennsylvania.
Youth will be refurbishing and repairing bicycles that will then be transported to the Lakota people of Pine Ridge Reservation in South Dakota.
