Diversion services are intended to “divert” youth and their families from involvement with Children, Youth, and Families (CYF) agencies through voluntary in-home services. At the onset of services, family functioning is assessed, goals are developed collaboratively with the family, and individualized interventions are implemented to build knowledge and skills.
Youth involved in diversion services typically range in age from 10 to 18 years. Therapeutic and case management services are provided an average of four to six months and include individual and family. Families and youth are assisted in creating a positive, safe environment with improved parent-child relationships. Networking with the family in the community occurs to develop sustainable resources.
