Independent Living services are designed to facilitate planning and skill development for successful transition of the identified youth from dependency to adulthood and self-sufficiency. The programs are structured to meet state and local independent living requirements, including the Chafee Foster Care Independence Program (CFCIP) and the Youth Independent Living Services Guidelines.
Individualized learning plans are developed based on identified strengths and needs using the Casey Life Skills Assessment. Plans target education, vocational training, employment, healthcare choices, establishing stable housing and food security, life skills and social skills. Developing and maintaining healthy relationships with caring and committed adults is often included in learning plans. Age appropriate exploratory and experiential activities are provided to support outcomes attainment.
