The Prison Visitation program is established to provide supervised visitation between incarcerated parents and their children in a private and safe setting within the prison. Simultaneously, the Prison Visitation coordinator will offer parent mentoring, behavioral modeling, and parenting classes with the ultimate outcome of improving the parent-child relationships. Agreements are established with both the contracting agency and local prison in order to identify and develop appropriate space within the prison.
Individual therapy is provided to children to identify and address issues surrounding and arising from the circumstances of the parent’s incarceration, when appropriate. The Prison Visitation coordinator will collaborate with the non-incarcerated, responsible parents or guardians to support and address identified needs of the children related to their responses before and following prison visitation. Preventative Aftercare intensive program services may be implemented for children reunifying with parents following their release from incarceration.
