Giving to Our Capital Campaign Ensures Our Future
George Junior Republic welcomes all donations to the Capital Campaign for the improvement of our residential, educational, and recreational facilities, as well as all other buildings on our campus. There is always a need to expand and enhance our treatment capabilities through capital improvements.
Campaign For Healthy Children
According to the American Academy of Pediatrics, "Youth in the juvenile correctional system are a high-risk population who, in many cases, have unmet physical, developmental, and mental health needs" (December 2011). Located on the campus of George Junior Republic, the newly expanded 7,000 square foot state-of-the-art medical center will be the home of primary pediatric care, dental care, vision, laboratory, physical and occupational therapy and psychiatric services. Join us as we make certain all youth receive a full complement of physical and psychiatric services on our campus. For more information, view our Campaign for Healthy Children Case for Support or visit our Donate page.
General Facilities Fund
Donors may designate funds for a building upgrade or facility improvement project for residential facilities and other buildings. The General Facilities Fund supports targeted facilities across George Junior Republic in Pennsylvania.
Naming Rights to Buildings or Classrooms
Donors interested in donating larger gifts have the option of working in coordination with the George Junior Republic administration in order to name a building or classroom, creating a permanent legacy for youth at our facility.
William H. Gladden Career and Technical center
Built in 1974, the William H. Gladden Career and Technical Center provides youth the opportunity to learn a skilled trade in one of six shops. On any given day, over 150 students take part in vocational education. With the goal of educating and training youth to enter the skilled trade workforce, vocational education provides students with the opportunity to transition to an employment setting and earn a family sustaining wage. All instructors at the Career and Technical Center follow Pennsylvania Department of Education standards and youth can earn various certifications on site. As the skilled trade labor workforce decreases across the United States, George Junior Republic is well suited to meet the increasing demands for laborers through the education provided at the center.
The William H. Gladden Career and Technical Center offers the following shops:
- Automotive Mechanics Technology
- Food Service
- Auto Body
The William H. Gladden Career and Technical Center will be renovated and expanded in 2015. The goal of this project is to increase classroom and shop size, upgrade equipment, and expand each shop in order to replicate shops in the community and employment setting.
